Go read.

My favorites in this issue are probably Song of Shakti by Shweta Narayan, Giant Steps by Jaime Lee Moyer, The Sea King's Second Bride by C.S.E. Cooney, which I loved in at least six different ways, and Tinkerbell by Stephanie Parent, which made me cry. I'm not even entirely sure why.

Oooo, shiny.

Just in time for the heat to finally, finally start breaking down here, the Goblin Queens come forth with Goblin Fruit, Fall 09. It is beautiful, in every sense, with art by an intriguing and mononymous artist called Roseau.

I feel a little bit better about the heat index reaching 112F today, because with summer in full swing, the Goblins bring forth the newest helping of Fruit. I'm out the door early tomorrow and off to the Internet free zone, so I wanted to splash out a few thoughts.

And the first thought is--

I'm not nearly as epic, motivated or well-informed as hooks_and_books, who is posting short critiques and discussions of all the Rhysling nominated poems. I did want to post links to a few favorites, though. The latest issue of Goblin Fruit went live this week. As is suitable for Winter, it is crisp, sparkly, and cold, comprised of snowflakes that could melt on your tongue and icicles that could stab you through the heart.
